Tongue Friendly
Our pets like to lick spilled liquids and eat crumbs on the floor. It's part of their nature!
A cat's tongue and part of the larynx contain stigmas or papillae. An adult cat has about 250 papillae, each containing 40 to 40,000 taste buds. Each taste bud on a cat's tongue has a taste bud that detects chemicals in food. Molecules inside the nasal cavities adhere to the adhesive membranes that cover the convoluted bones. Cats' sense of taste is close to human and affects their quality of life.
Dogs use their tongues to cool their bodies. They balance their body temperature by sticking out their tongues after intense physical activities or in extreme heat. With the large blood vessels in their tongues, they can cool the blood passing through it.

Noses of cats and dogs are much more sensitive than the noses of humans. Dogs can identify an odour 10,000 times better than humans. Both species have scallop-shaped plates called 'concha', inside their noses. When we examine this organ under the microscope, we see a thick spongy membrane containing nerves that transmit information to the brain. In humans, the area containing these odor analyzers is approximately 0.0006 m2. It's about the size of a postage stamp. In a dog, this area is approximately 0.04 square meters, almost as much as a piece of writing paper.
